CRANE SIMULATOR TRAINING
You can begin to apply the technical information learned in the classroom using our realistic
crane simulator. Learn the principals of actual crane operation in a safe environment without the fear of having an accident. |
STEP 3
HANDS-ON TRAINING
After satisfactory completion of both classroom and simulation training, get behind the controls
of an actual crane. Develop and improve your operating skills in the unique setting of our 5-acre “hands-on” training site. |

Basic Program

1 Day Hands-On
4 Days Classroom
Our basic 5-day program is an excellent introduction for beginners or part-time operators, and a perfect refresher for experienced operators. It’s also a great opportunity for supervisors, safety personnel and anyone else to experience what it feels like to operate a real crane. In addition to 4 days of classroom training, this program includes 1 day of hands-on instruction covering the fundamentals of crane operation: pre-operational inspection, setup, load moment indicators, and controlling load swing.
OPERATOR QUALIFICATION CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT
- Pass a physical examination. A CDL physical is acceptable.
- Complete a Crane Institute of America Mobile Crane Safety
training program.
- Pass a written examination.
- Pass a practical examination if possessing less than 3 years operating experience. (1 year for boom truck operators.)
A trainee qualification certificate is available for personnel who do not meet operator experience requirements.

- Pre-operational inspection.
- Proper crane setup.

- Pick and carry loads.
- Installing and stowing extensions & jibs.
- Installing headache balls and reeving load blocks.
- Up-righting loads.
- Start-up and shutdown.
