Crane Safety Climate Assessment
A joint safety initiative of ACIES and Crane Institute of America
This assessment is designed to help evaluate your organization’s safety climate, safety practices,
and risk controls related to crane, rigging, lifting, and worksite operations.
Who Should Complete This Assessment
This assessment should be completed by an owner, executive, senior manager, safety director,
operations manager, or another high-level company representative who has broad knowledge of the
company’s safety practices, management expectations, crane operations, and worksite procedures.
How to Answer
- Answer each question honestly based on your organization’s actual practices, not only written policies.
- Select the response that best reflects what normally happens across your company or work sites.
- If a question does not apply perfectly, choose the closest reasonable answer.
- Some questions are worded in the opposite direction for scoring purposes. Please answer each question as written.
- There are no “trick” answers. The purpose is to better understand current safety conditions and identify areas for improvement.
